SEGANA Return with Retro-Flavoured Banger ‘Fever Dreams’

They are like a train: their energy and drive never stop, always running forward and carrying everything else with them. That’s how we feel upon discovering SEGANA, Australian outfit with a knack for relatable electronica and infectious lyricism. First debuting in 2018, the pair went missing in 2019, shifting into a long hiatus. Formed by talented songwriters and musicians Blair Djuna and Josh Paltoo, the couple met while studying music in Sydney. Both pursuing their own personal projects too, it looked as though SEGANA would remain just a memory far, far away… Until now.

The Aussie duo unveils their first SEGANA release in a long time, and they do so in absolute style. Leaving commercial tropes and electronic-pop behind them, the two shift their attention to retro-flavoured synth-pop with strong synthwave qualities. ‘Fever Dreams’ is an unexpected bundle of euphoria and passion, an unapologetic jump into the 80s with a modern outlook. Upon a fast-paced instrumental, SEGANA builds their anthemic and catchy vocals, showcasing how they are still the legendary songwriters we knew they were. In fact, the chorus in ‘Fever Dreams’ is as epic as they come, this tune would have been a confirmed smash hit 30 years ago.

But today? It maybe won’t be a smash hit, but we believe it will do wonders in growing SEGANA’s fanbase, and it will hopefully take them to the forefront of the industry. Where they belong.
