Ryan Yingst gets Intimate and Honest on ‘Please Don’t Burn The Sage’

Ryan Yingst is a Nashville-based singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and engineer who has just released his first new tune of 2023 entitled ‘Please Don’t Burn The Sage’. I’ve listened to it a few times now, and it somehow gets better, richer, and more beautiful with each listen. After experiencing a year of heavy losses, Ryan explores the intricate relationship between love and grief in the most melodic, warm, and heartfelt fashion. “It’s not a dark track,” the musician is quick to point out. “It aims to poke fun at death and to find some comfort in the idea that things are never really gone”.

‘Please Don’t Burn The Sage’ was originally recorded by a Grammy Award-winning studio band, but Yingst scrapped the final product for its lack of authenticity. Instead, he went about recording it in his studio alongside Shane Weisman. What results is an evocative, lush, and unfiltered beauty that just screams honesty. It’s intimate, vulnerable, and truly exceptional!

Drawing on influence from the likes of Jeff Buckley, The Shins, Elliott Smith, Theo Katzman, and Bill Withers to name only a few, Ryan Yingst is a songwriter and storyteller of the highest order. His music is beginning to resonate more and more with listeners, and he’s promised us that there are more new tunes on the way!
