Karmic Neighborhood Drop Alternative-Pop Stunner ‘Song of Wonder’

The marvellously named California-based duo Karmic Neighborhood is made up of environmental scientist (and musician, obviously) Armand Ruby and arranger, producer, and keyboardist Julian Colbeck. Back in 2011, Armand created a musical play entitled ‘Equinox The Musical’, and it’s currently being turned into a feature film of the same name. ‘Song of Wonder’ is the first of a six-single series leading up to the release of the film’s soundtrack, and the duo recruited talented singer/songwriter Kristen Trayer to perform vocals on the tune. Channelling her inner Björk and Kate Bush, she’s the perfect addition to the alternative-pop gem.

“This is a song about the resiliency of the human spirit,” says Armand. “Rising up to overcome adversity”. It focuses on Katie, the story’s main female protagonist who, in spite of her past, is determined to live as a force for good in the world. Sonically, ‘Song of Wonder’ is an intricately layered little number, with some delicate guitar work, beautiful keys, and earthy, natural drums that reel you straight in.

A captivating anthem that serves as a powerful affirmation of the indomitable human spirit, ‘Song of Wonder’ is inspiring, positive, and perhaps just what the world needs right now. It’s gone down an absolute treat on our end!
