Rock’n’Roll Stalwarts Deep Jimi Return with Bold Album ‘Degeneration’

Rooted in pure rock’n’roll allure and nostalgic influences, ‘Degeneration’ showcases all of the heightened musicianship and genius songwriting flair that Deep Jimi have to offer.

We enjoyed getting to know the story behind Deep Jimi. Their musical adventure is rather surprising, certainly authentic. You see, the talented rock outfit enjoyed a spell of success back in the 90s, being signed by Atco-East/West and having their debut album produced by none other than the legendary Eddie Kramer. It doesn’t stop there; Deep Jimi are originally from Iceland, and moved to New York back in the day to pursue their music career. It paid off, at least for a while.

Fast forward to today, and the group is back in their homeland and has just unveiled their 5th studio album, ‘Degeneration’. Rooted in pure rock’n’roll allure and nostalgic influences, the record showcases all of the heightened musicianship and genius songwriting flair that Deep Jimi have to offer. They might not be teenagers anymore, but they sure know how to write an album that doesn’t get lost in preambles. It goes straight to the point, with fierce and bold guitar riffing, elegant Hammond organs and rolling drums.

Delving into the creative ethos that propels the project and their longstanding artistry, Deep Jimi explains: “We prioritise the craft of the album over social media algorithms. If you value authentic, sophisticated rock with a storied pedigree, this record is for you. It’s focused on architectural songwriting and high-fidelity analogue grit.” The group’s stance on pursuing a timeless, wholesome rock sound is quite refreshing, especially at a time when the industry is moving towards overpolishing everything.
