Rochone Returns with Euphoric Cut ‘Candy’

Before we begin, let me just say that this record caused a Cameo interruption in my workflow, and I had to take time out to just dance to the hit we all know and love. Why? You might ask. The answer lies in the playful and lush interpolation contained in Rochone’s latest single, ‘Candy’. As the title suggests, the track features fragments of melodies and rhythms from the original Cameo hit – that’s what we call an interpolation nowadays, rather than sampling.

Rochone brings the source material into the 21st century, shifting everything into R&B and soul territories. ‘Candy’ feels dancy, uplifting and playful, also deeply tied with Rochone’s Queer and LGBTQ+ identity. In fact, the record comes off the back of his performance at World Pride DC 2025 and Riverside Pride, a sign that the American artist is quickly gaining ground across a like-minded audience.

Previously known as a member of boy band Radio for People, Rochone has accumulated a great deal of experience across the mainstream and pop scene. With ‘Candy’, we find a version of him that’s independent and empowered, as if he had truly found himself. Speaking about the track, Rochone explains: “A vibrant celebration of queerness and Pride, pairing sensual alt-pop grooves with striking visuals that embody joy, empowerment, and inclusivity.”
