RISE Return with Vivid, Uplifting Piece ‘Dreams’

The keen reader will gladly remember Liverpool-based anthemic outfit RISE. Writing about one of the project’s past singles, ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’, we proudly declared it “a witty blend of melancholic synthwave tones and fiercer rock guitars”. We stand by our words; the British project is certainly not afraid to pursue a highly personal, unique path. ‘Dreams’ confirms it all once again. RISE’s latest effort, it takes up a more uplifting and intense rock style, benefiting from Rob Whiteley’s expert and modern production.

Head Honcho Paul Kinley does a great job on the songwriting and the overall artistic direction, transforming a simple pop-rock piece into an anthemic banger. Part cinematic and part arena-ready, ‘Dreams’ is also insanely catchy and vivid, wrapping listeners into an aural journey that’s evocative and emotional, but also striking and hard-hitting. The guitar solo seems to be a constant in RISE’s modus operandi, giving the record a wonderful nostalgic touch.

Speaking about the lyricism in ‘Dreams’, RISE explain: “It’s about the way in which people make plans for the future, and we all have dreams and aspirations; but how do we get there… ‘there’s no guiding map’ to follow.” Overall, another great effort by the British project, a worthy discovery.
