Rhett Repko Shares Latest Effort ‘Somewhat Famous’

A quick look at Rhett Repko’s Spotify profile reveals a committed, productive and inspired creative, with an impressive number of releases to his name. He’s the perfect example of what it means to ‘take matters into your own hands’. Moving with a strong, independent flair, the American songster has racked up a notable audience and a uniquely eclectic sonic imprint, once that’s on full display in Repko’s latest effort, ‘Somewhat Famous’.

Recorded at Red Bull Studios in Santa Monica, the record explores Rhett’s more euphoric and nostalgic side, embracing a blues-rock character that still finds its place today. In fact, we believe ‘Somewhat Famous’ to have transcended its influences, packing pop catchiness together with old-school instrumental textures and a rather heartwarming sound. Repko’s vocals are to die for, incredibly dynamic and luscious, yet elegant and relatable.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the piece, the American troubadour explains: “I wanted a swampy kind of old-school blues sound – something that I imagine gangsters in the 1920s would listen to in a speakeasy bar – the kinda song that makes you feel cool as you listen to it.” The amount of vintage gear in the Red Bull Studios certainly contributes to the single’s striking aural livery.
