You are correct, this is another shoegaze band… But wait! There’s something unique here, it’s not all guitar-powered doom and gloom; tones are grittier, riffs more chaotic, and the overall feeling is part melancholic and part furious, the perfect match for the group’s hypnotic female vocals. Puppy Teeth are bound to positively surprise you. Hailing from Edinburgh, the Scottish creatives embrace quite an eclectic pool of influences, infusing 90s-flavoured shoegaze with psychedelic elements.
The resulting listening experience is measured, even elegant. Don’t get us wrong, distortions are plenty, but there’s an overall jump towards cinematic escapism, a strong dreamy ethos that still maintains a firm groove and a rock-esque output. Overall, we look forward to finding out more about the project, and from what we heard so far, there’s a lot of potential.
Puppy Teeth are singer and rhythm guitarist Anna Trost, singer and lead guitarist Theo Black, bassist Ed Meltzer and drummer Niamh Jordan.
