Pray Silence Debuts with Heavy Single ‘Dragon of Chaos’

‘Dragon of Chaos’ celebrates the arrival of hard-hitting Edinburgh-based rock duo Pray Silence. We expect big things from them.

There’s a new band in town… or at least in Edinburgh! Pray Silence is the musical alchemy between singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Marky Wildtype and singer, songwriter, and multidisciplinary artist Sam Siggs, here reunited under the guise of luscious, brooding rock with hints of cinematic allure. ‘Dragon of Chaos’ is the project’s debut effort, a single that finds strength in an explosive, heavy chorus and more nuanced, hypnotic verses. Despite Pray Silence’s going on a quest for fierce rock territories, the final result is still somewhat elegant, a functional dualism between raw energy and cathartic euphoria.

Their Instagram bio appears to confirm our suspicions: “Propulsive, intricate rock music aiming for the gut, heart and brain; huge riffs, anthemic choruses and biting, sardonic lyricism”. We are going to consider that Pray Silence’s musical manifesto, so to speak, and judging by their excitement, we expect big things to come.

Of course, the project was not born in a vacuum. For instance, Siggs has been a fixture of the Scottish scene for years, boasting militancy in garage punk band THE HEAD HENCHMEN and former solo efforts Pillowfight Cenobite and Wes Linton. He and Wildtype have gravitated toward each other for a while, slowly posing the cornerstone of what’s now become reality. ‘Dragon of Chaos’ also ships with a music video directed by acclaimed local filmmaker Tommy Slack.
