Plastic Soldiers Share Meaningful Effort ‘Borrowed Time’

It doesn’t happen every day to come across a father and son duo. In this case, we had the pleasure of discovering ‘Borrowed Time’, a playful cautionary tale on advancing age and the feeling of living on ‘borrowed time’ – as the song directly implies. Made up by Bill Mecaughey and his son Todd, Plastic Soldiers possess a wonderful artistic alchemy, penning wholesome and heartwarming gems on gentle old-school pop flavourings.

‘Borrowed Time’ is the perfect evidence of that, a guitar-powered tune with a power-pop feel, perfectly complementing Bill’s earthy, dynamic and wisdom-filled vocal tone. Todd takes care of drums, bass and engineering, making the father-son duo a real musical powerhouse. Yet, behind the seemingly positive facade, the record emerges from a rather serious personal occurrence, with Bill battling a series of health problems which might affect his son (and daughter) too, in the future.

We’d like to praise BiIl Mecaughey’s ability to treat the subject with a tongue-in-cheek attitude, not letting sadness and negative emotions get the better of him. ‘Borrowed Time’ is the title track from Plastic Soldiers’ debut album, out now.
