Peyton McMahon Unveils Stripped-Down Version of ‘No Control’

There’s a veiled introspective fragility in ‘No Control’, as if McMahon had cut open his heart for us all to observe. Recounting the pattern of anxiety and overthinking that the Baton-Rouge talent knows very well, the record has been a pretty popular hit in the past couple of months, perhaps aided by its infectious blend of modern indie pop. Now, Peyton releases a stripped-down version of the same songs, a so-called ‘Bedroom Version’.

Explaining how vocals and guitars appear in the original draft of ‘No Control’, McMahon embarks on a rawer and unfiltered interpretation, channelling a poignancy that we didn’t necessarily clock before, and leaving space for the lyrical message to really resonate with the listeners. Not to mention Peyton’s vocals, so warm and welcoming, really drawing us in.
