The keen reader might remember Patti Zlaket from an article we published last year, praising the reissue of her 2001 album ‘Bliss’ as “a truly elegant and meaningful reckoning”. The specific record was framed into a larger effort to re-release Zlaket’s past material, in tandem with Meridian label (ECR Music Group). Well, after having celebrated Patti’s honourable history, Meridian now looks to the future, dropping a brand new album that showcases Zlaket’s ever-relevant artistry.
‘Dance Again’ is exactly that: a luscious and wholesome eight-track album built on Patti’s evocative vocals and piano-based allure. There’s a certain nostalgia in it, but also there’s also a prominent sense of a record that’s frankly timeless, especially due to its elegance and melodic lightness. It’s an album that’s a joy to listen to. ‘Dance Again’ has been produced by Tariqh Akoni (Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Weezer), and features an A-list array of session musicians including the inimitable Lee Sklar (Phil Collins, James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt).
Delving deeper into the creative ethos that propels the new record, Zlaket explains: “This album, the whole experience of writing the songs and recording it, promoting it, and now releasing it, has been like returning home. Working with such incredible players during the creative part of the process, and now, collaborating with a team of people at Meridian/ECR who are so supportive of me—and my artistry—makes me feel like I’ve already won. Everything that happens now is just icing on the musical cake. Simply put, Dance Again is my dream coming true.”
