Occupation:Baby Shares Gloomier Effort ‘Satisfied’

Lo-fi dark wave at its finest. ‘Satisfied’ is a golden nugget of intensity and slickness, a texture-packed universe part gloomy and part feverish. Whichever way you look at it, the single is rather impressive. Built on a simple platform, that being nostalgic darkwave with a heightened flair for sound effects and filtered drums, ‘Satisfied’ then flourishes thanks to Occupation:Baby’s indie-esque vocals, unveiling an angst-packed lyrical journey that’s relatable and brainiac.

Hailing from Peterborough, England, British sonic wizard and songwriter Occupation:Baby drives a compelling solo project, one built on the fringe but not too much; the subject matter is familiar and full of warmth and fuzzy feelings. Namely inspired by Artemis, The Weeknd and Nothing But Thieves – but on this occasion holding deeper resemblance to the likes of Mareux and Molchat Doma – Occupation:Baby is usually a tad lighter and less leftfield in his offering.

Truth to be told, we do love his latest single; it’s daring, bold, a tad murky, just what we are looking for. Leaving behind obvious pop efforts for a second, the English creative finds a worthy refuge in a darker sonic universe, one that we got lost in for a good three minutes. Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, Occupation:Baby explains: “It is about struggles with insomnia and not feeling fulfilled in projects due to a lack of sleep”.
