Nicki Knightz Delves Into Personal Memories with Reflective Cut ‘Cold Nights in East’

Entering Nicki Knightz’s artistic universe is incredibly rewarding and meaningful. A talented rapper, songwriter and holistic creative, the London-based hero champions a truly honest, vulnerable take on her artistry. Granted, we are not talking about poignancy or melancholia. It’s more of an understated, striking and perhaps bittersweet character, a quality that regularly seeps through Knightz’s hard-hitting and sharp lyricism, steeped in personal memories and local storytelling.

‘Cold Nights in East’ is the perfect evidence of that. Nicki’s latest effort, the track also marks her first successful attempt at self-recording. Flourishing over a boom-bap-esque beat courtesy of Swedish producer Markmywords, the record unveils Knightz’ potent lyrical flow and hypnotising vocal delivery, sparking a cathartic emotional reckoning towards the artist’s own childhood and upbringing in Hackney, London.

As Nicki Knightz explains: “With this track, I want people to understand where I’m coming from — not just musically, but emotionally. If you’ve grown up in endz, you’ll probably feel bits of your own story in there too. It’s not just about Hackney – it’s about what it does to you, how you carry that into adulthood.”
