Nick Hedden Picks Up Exactly Where He Left Off With ‘Is That So Wrong?’

Nick Hedden makes a triumphant return with ‘Is That So Wrong?’, a charming, uplifting country-pop EP that’s a joy to listen to.

We are pleased to see Nick Hedden step back into the global Country scene. You see, his story is rather peculiar but also deeply meaningful and infused with resilience. ‘Is That So Wrong?’ is Hedden’s latest EP, a record that picks up exactly where he left off back in 2022. It’s been a while, and the reader may wonder why Nick took such a long hiatus. Well, back in 2024, the Canadian troubadour was temporarily sidelined by a nagging injury that required major surgery, all the while caring for his wife, a victim of a near-fatal car accident.

Life has been eventful to say the least. Yet, Hedden always stayed true to his artistic calling, and he’s now back with further evidence of his boundless talents. ‘Is That So Wrong?’ EP features remastered versions of the title track and ‘I See You’, giving them a new lease of life. Alongside the two, we also find ‘If I Was a Memory’ and the original ‘Is That So Wrong’. Such a seemingly short tracklist hides a wealth of influences, with Nick jumping from stadium-ready country-pop anthems to more pop-leaning and contemporary cuts.

There’s something for everyone in it. It’s a catchy, uplifting record that still carries evocative lyricism and introspective imagery. Quite a triumphant return for the Canadian singer-songwriter. Producer Dan McConomy and mastering engineer Randy Millen are part of the EP’s creative team. Delving deeper into the lyrical ethos behind ‘Is That So Wrong?’, Hedden explains: “It’s a song about letting loose, cracking a beer with your friends, and just living life. It has that feeling you get in a small-town bar where everybody knows everybody, the music’s loud, and the worries of the day are forgotten.”
