My Glass World Return with Gloomier Cut ‘It Only Takes a Minute’

It has certainly been a productive year for British outfit My Glass World, and they do not appear to be done yet. Following up on their latest album ‘Stranded Assets’, released earlier this year, the London-based pair have recently returned with ‘It Only Takes a Minute’, a piece that sparks a new creative and thematic period for My Glass World, yet never forgetting the group’s nostalgic roots. We previously celebrated the band as crafting a collection of “timeless jewels steeped in highly meaningful lyricism” – that’s still the case.

You see, although its aural livery can be perceived as nocturne, intense and rather hypnotic, ‘It Only Takes a Minute’ still carries My Glass World’s heightened nostalgic imprint, a quality that perfectly aligns with Jamie Telford’s longstanding experience in the music industry (previous collaborators include Paul Weller and Richard Strange). That said, the new single feels a tad more new wave-esque than the previous album, embodying a darker, minimalistic sonic livery that’s sombre and gritty.

Out now via Luxury Noise Records, ‘It Only Takes a Minute’ also ships with a chaotic and metaphorical music video, with clock imagery and highway-themed visuals echoing the continuous passage of time. While the song’s hidden meaning is shrouded in mystery and introspection, it’s easy to catch a rather prophetic drift: use time wisely, don’t waste any. Life is short, isn’t it?
