Moon Construction Kit Shares Dreamy, Nostalgic Gem ‘Long John Silver’

Did we just enter a fever dream? ‘Long John Silver’ evokes a grainy, colourful aesthetic and a buoyant psychedelic flair, all qualities that are found in the track’s sonic character. Built on a kaleidoscopic arrangement, the single feels balanced between nostalgia and futurism, with an intricate series of textures and imaginative sound design making the listening experience playful, positive and slightly euphoric. Dream and psych-pop at its finest. Crowning it all, we find the dynamic, fragrant vocals of Moon Construction Kit.

A talented musician and producer, Oliver Cornu is the man behind the record. Hailing from Switzerland, he is uniquely placed to absorb influences from the continent around him, from italo disco to English psychedelia, passing through shoegaze and dream pop. The project’s influences are indeed eclectic, yet there seems to be a particularly blissful and cinematic quality in ‘Long John Silver’, with careless introspection sparsely interrupted by notes of melancholia… an evocative, elegant aural journey that well fits what Moon Construction Kit has to offer.

Described by the Swiss creative as “a song that lingers in the air like a ghostly sea breeze”, ‘Long John Silver’ is the kind of song that evokes a whole mood, an entire vibe, the kind of song that we’ll never be tired of playing. It gives a high degree of satisfaction and comfort, a heartwarming character that’s ever so rare in our complex world.
