Mono Sources is the self-described “synth-dipped passion project” of Long Beach-based musicians and producers Brett Bixby and Jesse Jason. Just a few days ago, they put out a tune called ‘Perfect Silence’, and I’ve become completely smitten with every element of it! Serving as their follow-up to February’s ‘Our Own’, ‘Perfect Silence’ sees the duo continue on their bassy, dreamy, and intoxicating way. Just after the halfway mark, however, Mono Sources allow themselves to let loose a bit, as they descend into a symphony of sound that envelops your heart, mind, and soul. It’s seriously potent stuff, and simply impossible to shy away from!
The more I listen to Bixby’s vocals on the track, the more Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Half Moon Run’s Devon Portielje come to mind. They’re the perfect amalgamation of two of my all-time favourite vocalists and, along with his contemplative and thoughtful lyrics, have entirely captivated my heart.
Lately, there has been an almost overwhelming influx of truly exceptional music “coming across my desk”. It fills me with optimism and hope for the future. Mono Sources is an act that deserves a lot more attention than it’s currently getting, and that is why we are proud to introduce you to them today!
