‘Amorous Intent’ serves as our point of entry into Miryea Meek’s expansive, off-kilter artistic universe. It’s an interesting place, one that appears incredibly unique and authentic. Drawing from a diverse range of influences, Meek crafts hazy and dreamy records with a high degree of escapism and atmospheric goodness. ‘Amorous Intent’ is the perfect evidence of that. Propped up by a noisy, lightly distorted drum groove, the track then indulges in Miryea’s cathartic, otherworldly vocals.
That’s what captivated us about Meek’s project. Her stunning voice, always drenched in large textures and limitless reverb. Oscillating between hazy, elegant and sultry pop matter (think Lana Del Rey) and more leftfield shoegaze elements, ‘Amorous Intent’ exists in its own space-time continuum, just a unique offering in an otherwise conforming, dull reality.
Speaking about the meaningful ethos behind the lyricism, Miryea explains: “The song is about lacking direction in life, not by choice but by values and structures that are enforced. It touches on how we all make our own meanings in life because we don’t quite understand what the true meaning of life is. Everyone has different perceptions of what is important.”
