There’s something extremely elegant in Marie Minet’s acoustic, eclectic work. Steeped in Chanson Française and High Life, the French songstress’s artistic outlook is incredibly buoyant and gentle, lulling the listeners through her evocative, nuanced vocals and intricate, African-flavoured guitars. ‘Je serais tout ce que tu veux (High Life Edition)’ is Minet’s latest effort, a rework of a tune previously included in her 2021 album ‘Clair Obscur’.
In the new track, Marie takes a step towards a more authentic and strong High Life style, a desire born out of a recent trip to West Africa. Stripped back to its core, with a saturated guitar providing the record’s backbone, ‘Je serais tout ce que tu veux (High Life Edition)’ showcases Minet’s magical and expert vocal tone, incredibly dynamic and poignant.
Delving into romantic themes, Marie reflects on the blinding power of love and the illusion of personal choices, when instead they are guided by a yearning for intimacy and common values. As Minet explains: “It’s an acoustic reimagining of one of my earlier songs, revisited after a transformative trip to Ghana that deeply shifted my artistic voice. The song explores the vulnerability of love; the desire to become everything for someone, even at the cost of losing oneself.”
