There’s a strong sense of positivity and comfort in ‘Beautiful’. A slice of uplifting and meaningful goodness, the song makes us feel as if we were floating over blue clouds, guided by the angelic, immersive vocals of Leeds-based songstress MAAME. Following up from her debut effort ‘Sure’, released back in May, the British talent returns today with another nugget of uplifting energy and hypnotising atmospheres, ‘Beautiful’.
Despite a strikingly dreamy character, the record also draws massively from soulful and R&B influences, making for quite an eclectic piece. Yet, even among such a kaleidoscopic aural formula, a constant remains, that being MAAME’s vulnerable, wholesome lyricism. Steeped in introspection and evocative imagery, ‘Beautiful’ particularly flourishes in the chorus, with a catchy hook and a playful, technical vocal melody.
Written by MAAME and produced by Hughie Gavin (JAKL) and Chris Durkin, ‘Beautiful’ feels a definite step up for the talented artist, so much so that we are already looking forward to her next release. Delving deeper into the inspiration behind the song, MAAME explains: “A tender reflection on learning to see yourself through the eyes of someone who truly sees you”.
