If Finnish singer-songwriter and producer Lotta Svart’s name sounds familiar, it is probably because of her militance in early ‘2000s pop outfit I’DeeS, an adventure that achieved tremendous domestic and international success, one that had Svart as a prominent member. Fast forward to today, and the talented songstress has not yet run out of creative juices, instead doubling down with another new exciting project, one that veers fiercely into leftfield and experimental territories.
‘Magi’ is exactly that, a timeless blend of spacious, ethereal electronica and trip-hop-leaning beats. The listening experience is absolutely magical, with Lotta Svart’s vocals immersed in shiny reverbs and delicate harmonies. Luscious, hazy soundscapes complete the aural formula, one that is described as ‘electropoetry’ from Svart herself. Sung in Swedish, the track belongs to an upcoming four-track EP.
