Following up on their latest album ‘WASTELIFE’, Camden rockers Little Wasters have recently released another electrifying slice of nostalgic Britpop, showcasing once again their willingness to draw from the greats with religious loyalty. Drawing from Arctic Monkeys as much as they do from early Blur euphoria, the British outfit has seemingly taken a time machine back to the early ‘2000s, borrowing a great deal of striking grittiness and uplifting, rowdy character.
We can certainly get behind it. ‘Deeper/Down’ is the perfect evidence of it, a punchy, playful gem that’s so nostalgic to the point where it just becomes timeless. On that note, it would be fair to say that Little Wasters have successfully captured a fragment of Britpop goodness and are holding it for safekeeping. Honestly, ‘Deeper/Down’ is a really good record. Not the kind where we would need to spend a thousand words writing about it, but the kind that needs to be felt and experienced first-hand. Bonus points if this experience happens in an obscure London venue.
You see, packed with unmatched charisma and explosive force, the song provides a jolly good time, together with a hint of rebellious, carefree lyricism. We are confident it won’t go unnoticed. As lead singer Ray Burns explains: “The track just appeared at a rehearsal one day, and won’t be released; It will escape, as the song was a force of nature.”
