Light Bird Drops Personal, Introspective Album ‘See Her’

An album that invites reflection and understanding, a peek into the courage of transitioning and embracing one’s true self. Discover Light Bird and her latest album ‘See Her’.

More than an album, ‘See Her’ is a wonderful and heartwarming window into vulnerability and identity. Packing eleven songs, the record emerges from Light Bird’s experience as a Trans person, starting from the decision she made in 2022, five weeks before her wedding, to come out and change her life for the better. Steeped into an eclectic pool of folk, pop and rock influences, ‘See Her’ feels moody and electrifying, a roller-coaster of emotions that resonate with elegance and nostalgia.

An album that invites reflection and understanding, a peek into the courage of transitioning and embracing one’s true self. Light Bird (known by day as Danni Hoshino) is particularly adamant about showing the intricate consequences that follow such a radical act, from the sudden freedom gained to the catharsis of leaving the past behind. Crucially, one of the elements that Hoshino carries into her new Trans life is musical talent, here fully showcased in ‘See Her’.

Delving deeper into the meaningful personal experience that propels ‘See Her’, Light Bird explains: “From the uncertain years leading up to my transition, the realisation and fallout of coming out as a trans woman, and navigating the world as a baby queer, I suddenly found myself with a voice and perspective that was always missing. It felt vital that I represent that perspective and share it, especially at a time when the trans community is being villainised and attacked daily.”

We appreciate Light Bird’s honesty and her willingness to share such an intimate tale. Someone out there is likely to relate to it.
