LÉO Shares Nostalgic, Soulful Jewel ‘Warm’

There’s a strong sense of understated elegance in ‘Warm’. Guided by the dynamic, jagged and vibrant vocals of French songstress LÉO, the record offers three minutes of pure nostalgic bliss, a stream of soulful goodness drenched in slow-paced, organic production. Inspired by the soul and folk of the ’60s and ’70s (the Motown style in particular), ‘Warm’ showcases the project’s highly authentic allure, here embracing a true old-school ethos.

We do believe that authenticity is key. You see, LÉO is not here presenting you with an elaborate plan for success, nor is she trying to reinvent the wheel. Simply, she was gifted a wonderful singing voice and a keen knack for honest songwriting. Working at a café in a quaint Normandy town, LÉO observed the summer calmly moving around here, a weightless, comfy feeling that she then reversed into ‘Warm’.

Written on the beach, the song then benefited from RIATTO’s analogue production, which crucially involved only actual instruments. Delving deeper into the inspiration behind the piece, LÉO explains: “This song was born in the summer, trying to transcribe the feeling of warmth, slowness and heaviness that brings the heat and the sun.” A larger EP is in the works, expected to be released in October.
