It’s been a while since we wrote about Kelsey Blackstone. A gifted songstress and excellent musician, Blackstone particularly flourishes in soulful and jazz-flavoured territories, her vocals delivering a luscious, evocative tale of artistic commitment. Operating out of Nashville, the American creative has recently teamed up with fellow talent Tobias Lund on an impactful, sultry piece, ‘Rinse and Repeat’, a record that speaks volumes about the masterful and timeless artistry enjoyed by both parties.
Steeped in jazz harmonies, neo-soul grooves and general R&B goodness, ‘Rinse and Repeat’ sees Blackstone and Lund exchanging verses with incredible charisma and confidence, then coming together into heavenly choruses. Honestly, it’s not the kind of record that needs to be described; it mostly needs to be felt and experienced, letting oneself be lulled by the soulful ethos behind the American pair.
Apart from the single’s obvious musical merits, there’s purposeful lyricism too. As Kelsey Blackstone explains: “I am super proud of the song that we made together. We wrote this about how finding love can be hard sometimes, dating burnout is real, and how tiring it is to always put yourself out there without knowing if it’s gonna work out.” Blackstone and Lund deliver such nostalgic and honest lyricism with a weightless flair, almost as if it were all a fever dream. Fear not, it’s certainly reality.
