The keen reader might remember aspiring pop icon KC Star from a previous EP, ‘THE MIXTAPE (Vol.1)’, a record we celebrated on our pages as a fierce and charismatic effort. Delving into the project, we proudly declared it as “moving between hip-hop and pop settings with charming nonchalance, bettering his craft release after release”. Well, we stand by our words: KC Star is certainly on the right path.
Surprisingly – or not surprisingly, given his conspicuous talent – the Los Angeles-based creative now returns with a brand new offering, ‘lonely love song’, scrambling the sonic picture he had so carefully built. Delving into more nuanced and evocative territories, the single draws inspiration from classic pop by empowering lyrical poignancy and veiled intensity.
The result is a stunning and emotional record built on warm piano chords and honest, authentic songwriting. Exploring the longing for true love, KC Star writes a monumental ballad, one that’s not afraid to gradually develop into a more anthemic, dramatic gem.
