The keen reader might remember Norwegian singer and creative K-Syran for her frequent forays into the EDM landscape, and in that regard, she’s built quite the reputation as a phenomenal topliner. Yet, things rarely always stay the same, even for K-Syran, whose recently released single ‘Tennessee’ kickstarted a brand new musical era. Anticipating an upcoming album, the track refocuses K-Syran’s career towards a fresh direction. The goal is very clear: to write an authentic, wholesome country record.

To do so, she enlists the talent of Nashville hero Steve Hinson, a former collaborator of notable figures such as Dolly Parton, Alan Jackson, George Jones, Kenny Chesney and Randy Travis. This is a crucial detail, as ‘Tennessee’ is one of the most authentic, heartwarming country and Americana gems we have heard to date. Built on steel and acoustic guitars, the single moves with intoxicating joy, a simple, charming record that will no doubt entice a global audience.

K-Syran’s hypnotic, soulful vocals are here delivered with carefree, uplifting attitude, showcasing once again the Norwegian songstress’ unmatched versatility. She’s definitely convincing in ‘Tennessee’, and we look forward to hearing the rest of the forthcoming album, which also includes contributions from some of the genre’s most respected players, such as renowned steel guitarist Russ Pahl (Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, Norah Jones). In fact, we also heard of a trip to Nashville that Syran might take in the near future… perhaps for a show?
