We have covered Julia Klot in the past, and we are happy to see her back with new music. Yet, this time she’s not alone, instead presenting ‘FOOL’ with her brother Max Klot, a musician and singer in his own right. The pair grew up in Brooklyn, NYC, and it’s obvious how they emerged from a very musical household. Nevertheless, the new record opens a new chapter for both, one that we are excited to see develop.
‘FOOL’ has been entirely made by the two siblings, from writing it to producing it, to recording it. It’s quite a heartwarming fact: what we hear is exactly the artistic vision imagined by Julia and Max Klot. Compared to Julia’s previous catalogue, the song moves into a more indie-pop direction and feels fierce and fast-paced, although it’s also emotive and introspective. The balance between the two talents’ vocals works very well, and we are impressed by how much musicianship can be found in a single family!
Delving deeper into the relatable lyrical ethos that propels the track, Julia and Max explain: “‘FOOL’ details the relatable experience of investing too much of yourself in a relationship only to find that the other person cannot be bothered to offer much in return. Despite clear signs of disinterest and unrequited feelings, you continue the cycle of exerting your energy and care into someone who is not willing to grow with you, essentially making a ‘fool’ of yourself.”
