John Carcer Explores the Depth of Mental Illness in Industrial, Noisy Album ‘Manhunt’

Not a record that everyone will be able to stomach, but a great example of an artist building a very specific concept around his music, creating a fictional universe that feels more like a movie or a novel, rather than just a musical album. Inspired by the classic videogame ‘Manhunt’ (in turn, inspired by the ‘snuff movie’ urban legend) John Carcer releases a 14-track album with the same title, describing the story of a man going through various stages of paranoia and schizophrenia, losing his sanity by the time the album comes to a close.

Drawing inspiration from a wide range of experimental and shoegaze music, John Carcer has not only put together a project that stands out from the rest, but has also made it to the radio and is aiming to play live in 2023.
