Heff Vansaint Gets Melancholic on Meaningful Single ‘Other Side Of The Hill’

We are rather familiar with Aberdeen-born, London-based singer-songwriter Heff Vansaint. Following up on last year’s EP ‘Best Days Gone’, the talented creative has recently unveiled her latest effort, an expansive and nostalgic single packed with gentle poignancy and relatable, elegant pop tones. ‘Other Side Of The Hill’ is exactly that, and more. Lyrically, it’s surprisingly melancholic and introspective, perfectly capturing Heff’s willingness to let go of the past, although with a slightly bitter note.

As she explains: “‘Other Side Of The Hill’ was written during a time of huge self-reflection, I was convinced that I was living in the aftermath of the best days of my life and that I needed to move on and accept that the best opportunities for love and excitement were passed. Sounds extreme, but that’s just where I was in my head. I was yearning for the old days whilst almost bitter that the door had closed on them.”

It appears as if ‘Other Side Of The Hill’ functions as a catharsis tool for Heff Vansaint, allowing her to process troubling emotions, then finding a new path forward. Fionn Connolly (of Forever Forever) joins the record on production duties, recording the single at her East London studio.
