Grandbrothers Share a Slice of Heaven in Hypnotic Piece ‘Where Else’

It’s been nearly three months since we announced Grandbrothers’ comeback. The duo’s upcoming album is set for release on September 26th, via their label _and others_. Following up from ‘We Collide’ – a single we described as “expanding the group’s sonic formula, adding a sprinkling of IDM-esque energy and a hypnotising, feathery beat” – the talented pair have recently unveiled ‘Where Else’, an intense, poignant piece that’s partly cinematic and partly electronic cut.

It’s all about getting away from their usual neo-classical tag for Grandbrothers. Stepping into hypnotic and ethereal dance music territories, German/Turkish pianist Erol Sarp and Swiss engineer/software designer Lukas Vogel depict an aural experience that’s pure escapism and pure euphoria combined. It’s also a favourite at Grandbrothers’ live shows.

As Sarp explains, “This one really came out of our live shows. Over time, the vibe shifted – we moved from seated venues into standing crowds, and that brought a different kind of intensity. Where Else was our response to that shift.”
