Getting Started Return with Indie Slow-Burner ‘Get Up’

While a band called Getting Started might stir up a wealth of witty wordplays, it might also be sending a powerful message to any keen listener around the globe: There’s much more to come; stay tuned. Indeed, the Chicago-based indie outfit is on a glorious, constant rise, with an ever-growing, loyal audience finding a worthy refuge in their wholesome and catchy indie-powered guitar riffing. The group’s enhanced relatability is also their biggest strength, with clear-cut, evocative vocals instantly capturing everyone’s attention.

Recently, Getting Started have returned with ‘Get Up’, a charmingly nuanced and liminal single that follows up from last summer’s ‘One Road’. A few months might have passed by, yet the Chicagoan group has not lost their sharp, striking aural character. In fairness, the new single feels decisively more vibrant and gloomy, with a sound that’s less obvious and more detailed. We love it, it truly works and pushes the band to the next level.

Formed by Jack Gallo, Matt Stein, Pat Hickey, Jack Scanlon, and Eddie O’Connor, Getting Started are evolving, and so is their music. Having made a name for themselves in their native Chicago, they are now looking to expand their reach nationally, with their NYC debut set for June 6th at Bowery Ballroom.
