It’s bound to be an exciting year for New Jersey-based punk-rock outfit Get The Net. Not only are they releasing a brand new single, ‘Tijuana’, but they are also announcing an upcoming album, ‘Til House Lights’, expected on June 26th via Bright and Barrow Records. For anyone interested in physical formats, the record will also be available in vinyl: 100 copies printed on translucent yellow pink spatter and 100 on seaglass. This is the link if you’d like to order some.
‘Tijuana’ reveals a lot of what we can expect from the American rock group. Drenched in unapologetic and fierce pop-punk allure, the record unfolds as a true earworm, a slice of gritty and playful musical goodness that captures listeners from the first note. Ryan Raichilson’s vocals are especially precise and brilliant, here accompanied by Brian O’Halloran on bass and Kyle Burnett on drums.
From a lyrical standpoint, the track dives into genius. While the overarching message is not that deep, as it certainly doesn’t need to be, given the rebellious and raucous punk context, the songwriting itself is very catchy and relatable, with a very hypnotic and addicting hooks religiously declaring “Do you wanna meet in Tijuana?”. The hypnotic and poetic rhyming behind such a line makes it a powerful ear candy, and we suspect listeners will be found singing the chorus to themselves.
