‘REBIRTH’ signals Frida Nova’s debut on the international scene, delivering a slice of soulful and eclectic material steeped in traditional, elegant arrangements, yet with a distinct contemporary flair. Hailing from Sweden, Nova showcases her evocative and luscious vocals, a dynamic and near-perfect tone at home in a variety of settings. While ‘REBIRTH’ is an impressive and meaningful offering – a potent, bold return to the industry – this is not Frida’s first rodeo.
In fact, the talented songstress was previously known as Frida Matsdotter, with an album to her name released in 2000 by Phono Suecia, ‘TIVOLI’. ‘Rebirth’ does follow in its footsteps, although declining them with modern sensibility. Orienting towards a more popular pop style, Frida Nova still finds the time and space for some multi-genre forays, with electronic beats and dreamy textures thriving alongside lush pianos and jazzy tones.
‘Lifetime’ is the album’s key track, a nostalgic and catchy anthem built on deep house and funk influences. Speaking about the inspiration behind the album, Frida explains: “It has been such an amazing process. I’ve felt at home with myself while also being on this incredibly exciting journey. Every part of the creation, from the first idea to the finished song, has been just as magical for me – I love discovering those elements that make everything fall into place.”
