Freight Debut with Electrifying Single ‘Me’

We get to write about a fair bit of young, upcoming bands, and the thing that always struck us the most is the joy and unfiltered happiness that seeps through their record. Everything seems possible; the future appears exciting and hopeful. Of course, not every project has the potential to back this up. Freight certainly do; hailing from Warrington, the young British outfit came to exist by chance, when frontman Luka Gunes was offered a festival slot during a local open mic on the condition of having a band to play with.

Teaming up with friends Luka, Ted, Jacob and Anton, Gunes laid the foundation for Freight’s artistic glory. Such glory is now coming to fruition, with ‘Me’ marking the group’s debut single. We have no notes; the track is charming and energetic, yet maintains a rather elegant flair. It’s the perfect marriage between guitar bonanza and vocal-powered slickness. Gunes’ towering and precise vocal tone is the perfect match for such a compelling aural formula.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Freight explain: “We were really influenced by the Vaccines and their catchy choruses. I was trying to learn one of their songs and I misplayed it, kicking off the inspiration for ‘Me’. The main hook of the song was another lucky mistake, with our producer Gaz showing me an idea and chopping it together in the studio, sequenced in the wrong position. It became a real hook within the song.”
