Float Away to Swiss Banks’ Dreamy Ballad ‘Verve’

‘Verve’ is the unbelievably good new single from Texas-based outfit Swiss Banks. Serving as the final single the trio will release before their debut album, it’s a euphoric and synthy indie-rock masterpiece that I’ve fallen in love with. Describing their new tune as “the most emotionally charged ballad from us yet,” ‘Verve’ sees the band deviating from their previous influences of The Smiths and R.E.M. to produce a more intoxicating and hypnotising sound. Vocalist Adam Buhrman puts on a stellar performance, and his voice is the perfect vehicle for the already dreamy and captivating soundscape.

Carey McGraw, frontman for the psychedelic rock band Modern Medicine, once described Swiss Banks’ sound as “Robert Smith listening to Morrissey cover Interpol”. I could not furnish a better illustration of just what the group is all about myself! What I can say, however, is that ‘Verve’ is easily one of my tracks of the year so far!

Swiss Banks recently made their way to the legendary Good Danny studio in Lockhart and worked alongside Danny Reisch’s team of engineers and mixers to record their upcoming self-titled debut album. If ‘Verve’ is a sign of things to come, I truly think we’re in for something special!
