Fierce Friend Shares Observant, Relatable Single ‘Put You Right’

Getting closer to his upcoming album ‘Blood Red Hills & The Uncanny Valley’, Brighton-based creative Fierce Friend shares yet another stunning single, ‘Put You Right’.

The keen reader will gladly remember Fierce Friend from an article we published just a few weeks ago, praising ‘Make Me Forget You’ as “a fast-moving, intense offering, one that illustrates the wide musical boundaries enjoyed by the project”. Such a statement becomes even truer with the Brighton-based troubadour’s latest release, ‘Put You Right’. In it, what was once ferocious indie rock matter transforms into a more tender and pop-leaning cut.

Moving with kinetic purpose and a nuanced mix of gritty guitars and icy synth riffs, ‘Put You Right’ embraces a highly melodic and partially dreamy character, the perfect match for Fierce Friend’s elegant, expansive vocals. In that sense, the record is a tad nostalgic, reminding us of the American indie of the early 2000s. Known by day as Alan Grice, the British multi-instrumentalist and songwriter is now gearing up for an upcoming album, ‘Blood Red Hills & The Uncanny Valley’.

Delving deeper into the lyrical ethos that propels the track, Fierce Friend explains: “Political songs can often be a bit shit. Too obvious, too pleased with themselves, too keen to tell you what to think. But ‘Put You Right’ is not a political song. It is a song about how it feels to live in the modern world: a place where no one listens and everyone is shouting over each other.” We would like to praise Grice’s observant songwriting flair, as he tries to decode the chaos of our planet using the aural medium.
