We have truly enjoyed writing about ‘Center Of Your World’. A cathartic, gloomy and haunting effort, the album appears to oscillate between liminal softness and nostalgic, full-band melancholia. Navigating new wave and darkwave territories with an elegant, gothic flair, the record marks the debut LP by Swedish troubadour Fernando’s Eyes. Known by day as Fernando Honorato, the talented musician boasts past militance in Principe Valiente, a band that we discovered just last year.
The overall aural livery seems to be quite similar; Fernando’s Eyes thrives by lurking in the musical shadows, navigating everything from post-punk madness to intense cinematic textures, passing through personal, introspective lyricism and anthemic melodies. Honorato’s vocals are quite hypnotising, packed with a dark, burnished tone that perfectly fits all the sonic goodness around them.
‘The Fire of the Night’ must be our favourite episode on the album. An expansive, hazy, potent tune, the track is the perfect representation of Fernando’s Eyes’ eclectic, boundary-pushing and legendary character. Speaking about the album, he explains: “I am very excited about this new chapter in my artistic journey and experimenting with new ways of writing music”.
