Eyði Horsdal Shares Hypnotising and Soothing Acoustic Album ‘Songs with Eva’

We can’t believe our ears: ‘Songs with Eva’ is so soothing, comforting, kind and gentle… That was our first reaction to the record. We are not gonna stand here telling you this is the next big thing etc – because it probably won’t be. Not because it doesn’t deserve it, but because this album is so fragile, so nuanced and so curated to become a very peculiar and niche offering. We are confident it will reach the right listeners at the right time, as it did with us.

‘Songs with Eva’ is a collection of incredibly fragile and relatable pieces, penned by Faroe Island talent Eyði Horsdal and Eva Perrin Fontana. The sonic context is light and airy; acoustic guitars, tiny percussions and understated piano lines. It all moves at a slow pace, after all, there is no rush: Horsdal lays his calming and reassuring vocals on the track with masterful attitude, showcasing his warm and charming tone that instantly captures the listener’s attention. Folk is the reference here, although the record ends up being so unique to then transcend traditional genre boundaries.

Lyrically, ‘Songs with Eva’ celebrates the simple things in life, refraining from complex metaphors and opting instead for simple and memorable storytelling — a fantastic record by Eyði Horsdal, sharing the promise of a bright future.
