Enter Ship Her Son’s Industrial and Dystopian Sonic Universe

Dystopian and otherworldly, ‘Soundtrack to the Daily Agenda’ is an incredibly intense and gloomy listening experience, a slice of industrial post-punk and leftfield electronica delivered with cinematic prowess and unrepentant melancholia. Behind such a potent record, we find Ukrainian producer and bold sonic alchemist Ship Her Son, aka Lviv-based Ukrainian musician Anton Shiferson. In fact, the original album title is ‘Саундтрек до порядку денного’, and features a series of guest vocalists from Ukraine. Let’s dive deeper into it.

Described by Ship Her Son himself as “the quiet panic of an ordinary day”, ‘Саундтрек до порядку денного’ makes good use of the darkest synthwave you have ever heard, here infused with a great deal of eerie, spooky textures and industrial noises. We suspect not all listeners will be able to reckon with it: for some, it’s going to be too much to bear. Not for us, though, as we bravely dig deeper into the ethos behind the album. You see, Ship Her Son seeks to highlight the increasing pressure and darkness found in the life of someone under constant strain.

It’s the little things that matter; not sleeping too much, being close to burnout, managing one’s mental health, fighting through the noise and the mist of life. It all adds up to a constant state of panic and tension, a sentiment that’s well mirrored in ‘Саундтрек до порядку денного’, a record that keeps the energy up from start to finish, doing so with masterful sombre character.
