What was once one of the most successful Creative Commons musical acts in Europe has now been moulded into a hypnotic solo project. Meet Emerald Park: hailing from Malmö, Sweden, the project now lives through Tobia Borelius’ visionary songwriting and dreamy indie-pop imagery, a highly rewarding sonic character that has now been put on full display in ‘Lovers In Reverse’. The single is rather crucial to Emerald Park’s new creative era, as it’s the first song extracted from the project’s upcoming album, ‘Songs For The Streets’, expected on August 21st.

The record is not so much a milestone, but more of an arrival point of a long creative journey. In fact, the aforementioned album borrows Borelius old songs in Swedish and gives them a new international flair, as well as a modern, luscious production sheen. ‘Lovers In Reverse’ is the perfect example of that. Loyal to Emerald Park’s indie-pop ethos, the piece also enjoys hints of psychedelia and hazy tones, a formula that transforms the track into a lovable fever dream, one that’s packed with evocative melodies and relatable songwriting. That’s the true Swedish style!

Delving deeper into the inspiration behind ‘Lovers in Reverse’, Borelius explains: “It originated as the Swedish song ‘Tidigt i Maj’. While the seasonal reference has shifted to the ‘first day of June’, the atmosphere remains intact. It offers a beautiful vignette of Malmö in its early summer splendour, capturing a love story that is either just beginning, or perhaps quietly unravelling.”
