In it, we can observe the project’s part playful and part reflective lyricism, with Trouw assuming the fictional persona of Elon Lust, “a fictional twenty-something male alter ego who embodies a cocktail of entitlement, objectification, and weaponised likability”.

The focus is on authenticity and independence, as Trouw explains: “I didn’t realise until later how much I felt like I had to be palatable. I wanted to be seen as likeable. As someone who could play well and sing well and look good doing it, even if that meant not being my full self.”
