Dozenz Return with Bold and Daring Album ‘Be Someone’

A longstanding musical figure in the United Arab Emirates, Dozenz have traditionally championed alt-rock and guitar-based elements, helping create a substantial like-minded artistic scene around them. Now, the talented duo has returned with a brand new offering, a striking album that moves into more eclectic territories, blending alt-rock prowess with electronic textures and a certain cinematic flair.

‘Be Someone’ is the result of that process. A cohesive and revealing record, it contains ten dazzling pieces balanced between haunting energy and bright euphoria. Hard-hitting and heavy in its attitude, the album showcases Saleh Hamed (Sol Farah) and Ahmed Jamali in their best light, especially regarding expressive, relatable lyricism and friendly, fuzzy guitar tones. In fact, we’d say there’s a fair balance between sonic fierceness and approachable songwriting, making the record targeted to a wider audience. We are not complaining!

References are rather expansive, often contradicting each other. Take, for instance, the MUSE, EDM-inspired piece ‘No Talking (Just Love Me)’ and the alt-rock effort ‘Lie To Love You’ – there’s obviously an artistic tension that seeps through the whole album, maintaining the listening experience interesting and varied.

As Dozenz explain: “We’ve always been about breaking new ground. From those early days playing gigs on the green when no one thought a local band could pull it off, to watching Juliana

Down get that MTV nod – we’ve never played it safe. Dozenz is the next chapter in that story, and honestly? We’re just getting started.”
