Double Major Doubles Down with Charming EP ‘Mein Hoon Double’

The keen reader might remember Berlin-based orioducer and creative Double Major from a recent feature we published about ‘KBN’, celebrating the piece as “a catchy and uplifting slice of electro-pop and nu-disco extravaganza”. It turns out, such words also work very well in framing the project as a whole, as Double Major’s latest EP deeply showcases. Offering a luscious and glittering journey through dance-inducing nostalgic territories and modern synth-pop allure, the record feels immersive and hopeful. What more could you wish for?

For the uninitiated, ‘Mein Hoon Double’ represents the perfect opportunity to get to know the Pakistan-born creative. Incredibly lush and vibrant, the record oscillates between melancholia and euphoria, blending Western beats with hints of Arabic melodism. ‘NNLJ’ is given the role of lead single, with a malleable and elegant disco livery crowned by Double Major’s crystalline, bittersweet vocals.

Delving deeper into the single, DM explains: “The song talks about being great and seeking the spotlight so much so that it could attract the jealousy and ill-wishes of others. ‘Nazar na lag jaye’ is something my grandparents would say to me all the time as a kid. It’s sort of like saying, ‘Hey! You are amazing. I wish that no evil gaze ever falls upon you or takes away from your potential.’”
