Dogboy Returns with Euphoric Gem ‘Rush’

While it’s true that we tend to be overly emotional with our music selection, often gravitating towards heavy-hearted offerings and nostalgic efforts, we also don’t shy away from more fierce and punchy musical references. After all, we are not always at our lowest. Naturally, we couldn’t help but relate to Dogboy, a raging indie outfit with a knack for fast-paced, euphoric gems. Emerging from New York, they are relatively new on the scene, having debuted earlier this year with ‘Cowboy Killer’. ‘That’s What We Wanted’ was the follow-up, now eclipsed by ‘Rush’, the newest record in Dogboy’s home territories.

What can we say? The listening experience is a proud and bold journey into the band’s sonic references. Ferocious guitar riffs layer over neat drums, building an intense musical scenario that perfectly fits Dogboy’s dynamic and fresh vocals. What’s more, the instrumental matter never overpowers the songwriting, giving the record a certain poppy allure – once you can relate to the vocals, ‘Rush’ is certainly open to a wider audience.

Lyrically, we are in relationship territories, with the American band exploring the emotional dynamics between two partners: as humans, we are naturally drawn to whoever would like to stick with us, often not thinking about the consequences of choosing the wrong person.
