Discover Rain Carnation’s Dazzling Sonic Universe in New Gem ‘Liar’

Emerging from San Diego, Rain Carnation is sort of a timeless project. You see, namely, the talented indie and synth-pop outfit is inspired by a strong 80s aesthetic – the decade he was born in. Upon listening to his music though, we are introduced to an ethereal, luscious kaleidoscope of sonic goodness, incorporating everything from synth-pop to more modern shoegaze tones and electronica sensibilities. We think this formula works very well for Rain Carnation: it allows him to place his artistry into a genre-less container, connecting to all of us out there who champion an eclectic music outlook.

The Californian talent has been productive this year, releasing three singles to date, all part of a four-part series detailing the end of a love story. Earlier this month, we got the fourth and last record, the charming and evocative slice of spatial dream-pop ‘Liar’. Channelling his inner M83 (among others), Rain Carnation delivers uplifting choruses drenched in scintillating and heavenly synthetic matter. To note, there’s an intriguing bed of fuzzy guitars, blinking eyes to the artist’s early 90s rock influences.

It’s piquant and opulent, but delicious. Rain Carnation manages to pair poignant and heartfelt lyricism with emotional, hypnotic instrumentals, providing a reflective yet empowering sonic journey to whoever is ready for the trip. We definitely are, what about you?
