‘Found’ perfectly aligns with our musical ethos. You see, we love discovering boundary-pushing material, stuff that doesn’t play by anyone’s rules, instead pursuing a truly authentic and unique aural path. With Olivia Brown, we struck gold. Teaming up with fellow creatives The Sleep Dealers and Reverie Winters, the young Chicago-based producer and vocalist pens a strikingly shapeless ambient-driven piece, a blend of cathartic soundscapes, otherworldly textures and Brown’s own dystopian vocals.
Don’t take our words for it. Art like ‘found’ needs to be experienced first-hand, as it’s incredibly personal and intimate. It’s music made for a moment of stillness and reflection, an introspective look at our deepest fears and a welcome emotional release. Yet, what truly impressed us about the track is that Olivia Brown coded her own plugins! Drawing from her computer science background, Brown embodies the role of ‘sound designer’ quite literally, showcasing an all-round, holistic creative flair that’s always aiming to innovate and explore.
A multi-layered piece, ‘found’ finds a more relatable angle in Olivia’s romantic lyricism, here describing the destructive cycle of a toxic relationship: “Thematically, it’s about allowing someone I loved to harm me because she was so special. I convinced myself the torment she put me through was love, and that the pain was worth it just to be close to her. Looking back, I know that isn’t true, but this song captures that mix of regret, nostalgia, and longing. It’s me trying to convince myself I could have stayed, even though it was never meant to be.”
