Threading the fine line between tender, introspective folk and bolder pop-leaning melodism, American songwriter Lexi Bee has had quite a crucial 2025, with a string of singles leading to a thematic EP, ‘supergalaxy’. Within that EP, we find ‘Crush’, one of the record’s more uplifting offerings. In it, we can observe Lexi in a rare moment of controlled euphoria and light-hearted romance, an ethos that’s equally matched by the retro-favoured, indie-coded production. Overall, it’s a wonderfully catchy piece, a moment of joyful optimism that playfully contrasts with the brooding tinges of the rest of the EP.
Delving deeper into ‘Crush’, Lexi Bee explains: “It’s a song for the nostalgic, 90s dreamers and is bound to make the listener feel joy. I made this song as a reflection of what it feels like to fall for someone and have a crush. Fuzzy guitars, a mix of electric and acoustic elements, soft vocals and dreamy production. Crush is for singing loud on the highway with your friends and the windows down.”
