Discover LEMY on Hazy, Quirky EP ‘Land of Light’

‘Land of Light’ serves as our point of entry into LEMY’s hazy, eclectic artistic universe. There’s a great deal of hypnotising energy in it, unveiling a trail of electro-pop goodness with a strong, dreamy, cinematic flair. Originally released in March 2024, ‘Land of Light’ can be considered LEMY’s first English release, although its overall ethos is more oriented towards being bilingual. Known by day as Anastasia Ledovskaya, the talented songstress infuses her music with a great deal of Eastern European gloominess, drawing from her Russian heritage.

In fact, that’s exactly how ‘Land of Light’ feels. Part luscious and part gritty, the EP might resemble an indie-pop cut at first, yet at a deeper look, tracks such as ‘My Old Friend’ expose a more rugged perspective on it, thanks to shoegaze-esque guitar tones and dry distortions. LEMY’s hard-hitting vocals are a perfect match for such a unique sonic formula, with organic and electronic tones co-existing in a cathartically curated aural harmony.

Elsewhere in the EP, ‘Part of the Way (To Mother)’ takes us into a cinematic dimension, one that’s liminal and soft at the same time. It’s here that we can fully appreciate the evocative energy boasted by LEMY’s vocal tone, fully hypnotising the listeners thanks to its feverish, psychedelic quality. Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, the gifted creative explains: “It came from a place of emotional awakening. Written during a time when I was confronting burnout, self-doubt, and disconnection, ‘Land of Light’ became a way for me to search for meaning — and softness — in a chaotic world.”
